SAFETY DAY 2019
“I AM GOAL ZERO: A DEEP PERSONAL COMMITMENT TO ZERO HARM, ZERO LEAKS”
I CARE … and I choose to be Goal Zero every day so that everyone stays safe
CARE is not only being nice to each other. It is taking a stand on safety, choosing to be Goal Zero every day. That can range from providing tough feedback, to showing understanding for a significant life event, to accepting a safety intervention, to applying serious consequences where an individual does not care or perform and puts others at risk. It is about wanting everyone to perform at their best, safely, so no one gets hurt and we can all go home to our families.
I KNOW … the gaps to Goal Zero, consciously tackling RISK NORMALIZATION
RISK NORMALISATION becomes a problem at work when we become so accustomed to and comfortable with risks that we shouldn’t be comfortable with. We can tackle it by identifying the risks we face and the barriers we own and making visible any gaps to achieving Goal Zero.
I DELIVER … with discipline to close the gaps to Goal Zero, surfacing dilemmas along the way
DILEMMAS are where we recognise that we have a choice to make and that choice is difficult, for whatever reason. We all face difficult choices sometimes, but because we care about each other we can – and should – ask for help when these situations arise and encourage others to do the same. It is having a habit of surfacing dilemmas to close the gaps.
